3-Stage Recovery

Zi Jin Tang Tasteforlife Three-Stage Postpartum Care
20 Years of Expertise in Confinement Cuisine. Taste for life (Zi Jin Tang) brings over 20 years of professional experience in postpartum confinement meals. Our program is based on the principles of progressive Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) recovery, co‑developed by Dr. Hui‑Yin Xu, Honorary Chair of the TCM Gynecology Association, together with Taste for life (Zi Jin Tang) ’s award‑winning culinary team.
Following the three key stages of postpartum care — metabolism, restoration, and nourishment — Taste for life (Zi Jin Tang) has carefully developed a variety of herbal soup packs. Using advanced extraction techniques, we preserve the essence of natural ingredients. Each stage features thoughtfully selected soups, offering three meals a day with diverse flavours, ensuring both wellness and enjoyment throughout recovery.

Stage One – Metabolism
After childbirth, mothers often experience blood loss and depleted energy, leaving the body weak and fatigued. At this stage, it is important not to rush into heavy supplementation, as doing so may backfire — instead of restoring strength, it can place extra burden on the body and lead to greater exhaustion. Gentle, progressive care is the key to true recovery.
The focus of this stage is to stimulate cell regeneration, clear blood stasis, expel lochia, and support uterine contraction. These steps help mothers regain internal balance and prepare the body for gradual healing.
In the immediate postpartum period, the body remains in the wound‑healing phase. Care should emphasize gradual adjustment, reducing water retention, and easing swelling. Soups made with sesame oil and rice wine may increase blood circulation, which is not conducive to wound recovery. For this reason, such recipes are best consumed sparingly during this stage.
Stage Two – Restoration
After 10 days of metabolism and intestinal adjustment, mothers enter the second stage of dietary care. With strength gradually restored, this phase emphasizes nourishing the lower back and kidneys through food therapy, helping to prevent future discomfort such as persistent soreness.
At this stage, progressive supplementation can begin, with a focus on nutritional replenishment and energy enhancement. As wounds slowly heal, sesame oil can be introduced to promote uterine contraction, lochia expulsion, and functional recovery of the uterus.
Key nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, unsaturated fatty acids, and dietary fiber are essential to support both mother and baby. Consuming high‑protein foods and restorative soups not only strengthens the body but also stimulates healthy breast milk production.
Stage Three – Nourishment
At this stage, the body is ready to absorb more potent and restorative supplements. Mothers can begin consuming tonic soups that replenish vital energy, carefully paired with high‑quality proteins and ingredients rich in vitamin E and B‑complex, which aid in cell repair and contraction.
The focus of postpartum care in this phase is on strengthening the body and enhancing beauty. While breast milk supply continues, mothers also need to gradually restore stamina. Emphasis is placed on boosting antioxidant capacity, improving immunity and resilience, calming the mind, and replenishing energy (Qi).
This stage supports ovarian and pelvic recovery, kidney nourishment, and bone and muscle strength, while promoting healthy blood circulation. Diet should include vitamin B‑complex, zinc, potassium, and collagen, all essential for breastfeeding. To avoid excessive weight gain and ensure balanced recovery, meals should be prepared with appropriate caloric intake as a guiding principle.
Herbal Soup Pack Ingredients
Taste for life (Zi Jin Tang) Exclusive Formula – Natural Herbal Soup Base
Carefully crafted from selected natural ingredients, our herbal soup base includes black beans, premium kelp, beetroot, and Himalayan rock salt. Each batch is prepared through slow simmering and meticulous extraction, using High Pressure Processing (HPP) technology to fully preserve the fresh, original flavours of the ingredients. No artificial flavourings, colorings, or preservatives are added — ensuring a pure, natural soup base that mothers can enjoy with complete peace of mind.

Extract of Black Bean Natto
Carefully selected local black beans are roasted, fermented into natto, and refined through advanced biochemical extraction technology. This process preserves the full nutritional value of black beans while breaking nutrients down into smaller molecules, making them easier for the digestive system to absorb. Often referred to as the “vegetarian essence,” this extract provides comprehensive nourishment for postpartum recovery. Rich in high‑quality protein, it supports breast milk production, while vitamin C enhances immunity, aids iron absorption, prevents anemia, and promotes collagen formation and wound healing. Vitamin E helps improve blood circulation, and anthocyanins work to eliminate free radicals, reduce wrinkles, and enhance beauty, making this extract both restorative and rejuvenating.
Beetroot Extract
Originating from the western and southern coasts of Europe, beetroot is often praised as a “natural multivitamin”, holding a place in Western wellness traditions comparable to the role of Ganoderma (Lingzhi) in Chinese culture. Our beetroot is organically grown in pristine environments, nourished by pure water and clean, unpolluted air, then refined through advanced biochemical extraction technology. It contains ferrous iron (Fe²⁺), the most easily absorbed form of iron for the human body, making it especially beneficial for individuals with cold hands and feet or poor complexion. Rich in vitamins and dietary fiber, beetroot promotes healthy intestinal movement and supports digestive balance. Its natural sweetness and purple hue, derived from betacyanin compounds, enhance both the flavour and colour of the soup base, offering nourishment with a refreshing taste.
Kelp Extract
Carefully selected premium kelp, rich in the natural flavour of the ocean, is sun‑dried using traditional methods and then gently simmered over low heat. Kelp contains abundant glutamic acid, the source of its distinctive umami taste. As a natural ingredient, it requires a meticulous process of soaking, heating, and slow cooking before undergoing advanced biochemical extraction technology, which breaks nutrients down into smaller molecules for better absorption by the digestive system. The kelp’s rich collagen further enhances the nutritional density of the soup, delivering both flavour and nourishment in every serving.
Himalayan Rock Salt
Sourced from beneath the Himalayas, one of the world’s renowned longevity regions, this salt is hand‑harvested with strict quality control. Formed from ancient seawater dating back hundreds of millions of years, it remains absolutely pure and free from pollution. It is 100% natural, with no added colourings or processing, and is rich in essential trace minerals, water‑soluble calcium ions, and particularly abundant natural iron. Gentle in texture, a touch of Himalayan rock salt enhances the soup with its original flavour and subtle sweetness, bringing a natural depth and balance to every sip.
Caring Note
Dietary Reminder for Thyroid Health: For individuals with thyroid disorders, maintaining a balanced diet is essential, with special attention to iodine intake. Both insufficient and excessive iodine consumption can be harmful. The recommended daily intake for adult women is 100–115 micrograms, while breastfeeding mothers should increase their intake by an additional 25 micrograms to meet nutritional needs.
State‑of‑the‑Art Ultra High Pressure Extraction (HPP)
High Pressure Processing (HPP), also known as High Hydrostatic Pressure (HHP), is recognized as one of the top ten cutting‑edge technologies of the 21st century and remains the only truly innovative food processing method of its kind. Already applied in production across multiple countries, it has been officially approved by both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
This technology applies ultra‑high pressure for up to 48 hours, breaking down cell walls and transforming solid ingredients into liquid form. It cuts nutrients into smaller, soluble molecules such as polysaccharides, peptides, and amino acids, while preserving the complete nutritional profile of the food. As a result, HPP ensures that the natural essence and full spectrum of nutrients are retained in every product.
